It's been a long hard winter here in Utah. It's spring...can we turn off the snow?
I realize that for this blog to be a good communication tool, I must update it. Therein lies the challenge for me. I can't seem to keep up with my own life lately.

I did have my birthday. Gee, that seems like forever ago...here's a shot of the family who came to help me eat my cake. Apparently Christy must be the photographer. I know she was there!

Steve and I went cross country skiing for the first and last time. We went to Soldier Hollow with the Utah Ski Assn. Thought it would be cool because that's where the Olympics were for cross country skiing. Been there, done that. Not a fan. We can cross that off our Bucket List. We went to that movie too, loved it.

This is Cami's attempt to get me in the movies. We were extras in the Disney movie, Hatching Pete. Watch for it coming to a Disney Channel in your home! We had a fun day and it was fun to be part of the production. We learned a lot about what it takes to make a movie and Disney feeds really well.

We had a little family party to celebrate Christy passing her board exams for Dental Hygiene School, Jenn, graduating from her school of Aesthetics, Easter and St. Patrick's Day. Isn't that weird that St. Patrick's Day and Easter were in the same week?
Amy helping Taylor decorate her dessert, just before she gobbled it. To the right is Jonathan giggling his head off at Justyn and Rommel having a little paddle ball competition. SO FUNNY! Sometimes the simplest things are the things kids are entertained by the most. In our case, it was just these 2 big boys that entertained the little one.

We had fun in the great weather of Las Vegas for Easter weekend and Spring Break.
Matt didn't get to play as much as he would have liked, but there is a lot of good talent on the team. Competition is tough. He has fun hangin' with his buddies and we had fun watching the games in the sun, hangin' with mom and dad at their fun condo, going to shows and visiting family. My cousin Kandice has a little boy they adopted last February and then just had twin girls, so we went to visit them and then they came to the condo swimming. Here's a few shots of the babies. Paige and Elise. They are a hoot!
Here are some pictures of Vegas:
Great shot of the Stratosphere, the score board and Matt batting, don't you think? My photographer is the best! Thanks Steve!

And the runner is safe!

Luckily one of the other players has a cute sister that is just Cami's age. They had fun hanging out at the games together. Kids are so funny. They sit there together and text other people and they think they are having a great time. has anyone noticed that but me?

O.K., that's my update. Let's hope I can do the next one in less than 3 months! No promises!
I need reinforcement that someone is looking at this, I suppose. Does anyone even look at this?

February 2008

A blog was ONE of my new years resolutions. I am running a little behind, because I tried to set it up right around the first of the year and my security levels on my computer were set too high or something and it wouldn't let me. So, then in typical Susie fashion, I got mad at it and haven't tried since. I got inspired by reading Kandice's though, and this time it worked so now I think I'm on board. If a lady with 3 kids under 3 can pull it off, so can I!

We are having a fun winter here at the Carlson household. I have been skiing 4 times this year. That's a record for me. I'm usually a once a year kind of a gal, just to make sure I can still do it. I joined the Utah Ski Assn. for a client of mine and have to go represent them a couple of times a month. We go somewhere different every time, so...this year I've skiied at Sundance (haven't skiied there since college!), Deer Valley, and then the Canyon's twice with Matt. We had a great time. Too bad I didn't take a picture so I could share.

Matt went to Sweethearts Saturday with a cute girl. They sort of look like brother and sister, don't you think? He had a great time.

He is working at Dimple Dell Fitness Center as a lifeguard and loving it. They are really good to work around his schedule, so originally, he was just going to work over the winter months and knock off for spring baseball season, but if they will continue working with him, he can continue earning money to stuff down his gas tank! We're excited for baseball season to start. Tryouts are in 2 weeks. We're looking forward to the annual High School Easter tournament in Las Vegas. It will be good to get out of the cold.

Cami is super busy with her dance and singing classes each week. She is such a fun girl and just LOVES Jr. High. I was just looking thru some old pictures, and this one isn't recent, but adorable, don't you think? With her cute puppy! We LOVE our Sophie!

She is almost finished with her braces now and looks so pretty. Here is her latest school picture, which she hates.
We went to new beginnings with her last night for Young Women's and she gets to go on 2 campouts this summer. One to Oakcrest where there are cabins and structured activities and another one that is our stake campout. She is looking forward to summer!

And last but certainly no least...here's my sweetheart!
O.K., so this picture isn't exactly recent either. See the 72 in the background though? Matt is rebuilding it in his auto class. What are we going to do with it when he graduates? Oh, don't even go there. Like we need another project around here!

Right this very minute, Steve is refinishing our kitchen cabinets. When we tried to do them like I wanted to do them, it looked like they had caught fire, so now he's in charge. I'm sure they will look fabulous. Anything is better than the monotone golden oak everywhere like we had. Wish us luck!

Did I mention my new scrapbooking hobby? Digital Scrapbooking? Here are a couple of the things I have made. I am anxious to learn more so I can do more. Pluss, I still have to do all my paper scrapbooking. That is getting out of hand all the sudden.

Jonathan is James and Kristen's little angel and Taylor is Amy and Justyn's.

I guess I don't have any pictures of me.

Tomorrow is my 45th birthday though, so maybe Steve will take one of those fabulous pictures he takes of me every year when I am blowing out the candles!

Now, on to my next New Year's Resolution. Organizing our family's emergency plan and updating our numbers and all that fun stuff.

Maybe if I get all this drudgery out of the way at the first of the year, I can have a really fun spring and summer! I'll keep you posted if that plan works...
